Digital and Traditional Reading
I believe that there is a huge difference between digital and traditional literacy. Although you have pros and cons for both, I think that traditional reading should always be the way to go. With digital reading, kids will more than likely become distracted with social networking sites and online chatting. I also believe that reading online does not have the same effect as reading a book. Books usually have a more clearer setting, plot, and theme. Digital literacy is usually a faster way for kids to get straight to the main point of a book, however, digital literacy does mean kids won't be lugging heavy ten pound books around everyday. I think that schools are better off using traditional book reading. Staying with traditional reading, I believe that kids will get a better understanding of books instead of getting distracted by what the internet has to offer.

You're right, traditional literature is best for classwork. I think it is good when a teacher can incorporate technology into their lectures, but textbooks should not go out of style.
ReplyDeleteDefinatly! I agree 100% there is definatly a place for computers but it is my balief that it should not be used as the only study guide.
ReplyDeleteBooks will never go out of style the are here to stay and I am glad.
You made some good points.
yeah, traditional literature should continue to be used for the school setting. But it's more interesting when teachers use incorporate technology at times also.
ReplyDeleteI can't stand it when everyone agrees with each other. (even if you are making some great, valid points)
ReplyDeleteWhat about the "sustainability" craze? Aren't paper books wasteful? (I'm being facetious, please note)
